Coach Mike Roy (2001-2006)
While
at the University of New Hampshire, Mike Roy began playing for the Seacoast
men’s team after a year they realized the strong collegiate UNH interest
and opted to start up a team of their own. Mike played rugby at UNH from 1990-1993
and was selected Captain in 1992 and 1993. In 1993 he was selected to NERFU
select side.
Upon graduation Mike played in Boston for the Charles River Rugby Club from 1994 – 2002. He served as Captain for 5 years and President for 2 years. While playing for Charles River he was the youngest Captain ever selected and was even selected the team’s MVP in a few different seasons. Mike Roy was also selected to the "30 for 30" team - Top 30 players in first 30 years of CRRFC.
In 2001, Coach Mike Roy crossed
paths with the Northeastern Lady Maddogs and began coaching.
Accomplishments as Coach:
Upset #1 ranked Bowdoin to end first season
Beast of the East winners 2005
New England Champs 2005
#3 in country 2005-2006
Team moved to D1 in 2006
