Meet the Coaches:

  
Diana Parkhurst and Megs Johnson members of the Boston Women's Rugby Club.


Diana Parkhurst: Di is a full time Wellness teacher in the Needham Public Schools. She obtained her B.S. in Physical Education & Health from Springfield College in 1994 and an M.S. in Teaching and Administration in 1999. She first started playing rugby for the University of Brighton, England while on exchange in 1993. In 1994, while teaching in Springfield, MA she started playing for the Hartford Women's Rugby Club and coached the Springfield College Women's Rugby Club. In 1999, she began playing for Boston Women's Rugby Club and continues to play for BWRFC to this day. She has been a leader, captain and coach of the team since her arrival. She was selected as a member of the Northeast Select Side (NRU) in 2000-2005. In 2002, she was selected as a member of the USA Eagle Pool. Following a significant injury, she focused on her coaching career and began assisting the Northeast (NRU) U23 S elect Side team. In June of 2005, she traveled with the NRU U23 team as an assistant coach and once again in 2006 as the Forwards Coach. Beginning in the fall of 2006, she began working with and coaching Northeastern University. In the fall of 2005 she implemented rugby into the Needham High School physical education curriculum and in 2006 started an official boys and girls rugby club for the school. She has completed the Advanced Coaching Certification through USA Rugby and has recently attended the University of Queensland Rugby Academy (UQRA) Advanced Coaching Clinic. She has also attended other various coaching clinics held in the Boston area and remains actively involved in the development of youth and collegiate rugby. In addition to her rugby experiences, she has a strong background in strength and conditioning instruction.

Meagan Johnson: Megs is a full time Physical Education Teacher in the Waltham Public Schools. She obtained her B.S. in Physical Education from Keene State in 2003 and is currently finishing up her Master’s Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Human Movement from Bridgewater State College. She first started playing rugby while attending Keene State College from 1999-2003. Once finished in 2003 she moved to Boston and is still to this day currently playing for a Division I club called Boston Women’s Rugby Club. In 2006 and 2007 she also organized and coached the Eastern Massachusetts U-23 Select Side Women’s Rugby Team. In 2006, she was selected as a member of the Northeast Select Side Team (NRU). In the fall of 2006, she began working and coaching Northeastern University Women’s Rugby Club. She has attended the University of Queensland Rugby Academy (UGRA) Advanced Coaching Clinic. Currently, she is enjoying playing rugby and training for triathlons especially an upcoming 70.3 triathlon.
